The Izzi Buyer site was created to sell high quality electrical goods and their accessories with minimal fuss.

The site needed to allow the user to search the site, browse through a large range of different categories, whilst looking clean and bright making it as simple and easy for the user as possible. Continue reading ‘Izzi Buyer is now open for business!’ »

Tri-Train specialise is Lanzarote based accommodation that is used by tri-athletes to prepare themselves for events in the warmer climate.

The site needed to provide booking functionality whilst also allowing users of the site to find out information about Lanzarote and what they can expect when they get out there.

The Tri-train website uses a variety of pictures to make the pages more interesting for the user than just text content on the site. The images that are on the homepage are dynamic and change after a certain period of time, meaning that the homepage stays fresh and looks more interesting compared to a static picture.

Navigation around the site is done by a simple menu on the left of the screen. This allows the user to navigate to the various sections of the site easily. To make the navigation of the site even clearer, this menu has been split into two sections with one section dealing with the main pages of the site and other that has links to the contact pages and the booking pages.

The site is clean and bright looking, using a variety of colours such as gray, white and green to separate and differentiate between the different elements of the site. By doing this, it makes it much clearer to the user of the site which elements are related to each other.

To make the booking process easier for the clients, a calendar has been implemented into the booking page. This allows the user to see what days they can book at the villa. This allows them to not waste their time trying to book days which are unavailable.

The Tri-Train site, is a clean looking site which fulfils its task well of informing people about the villas in Lanzarote, but also in making the booking procedure as easy as possible.

The Pure Gym website has had an in depth make over to give it a more modern appearance and to add some extra features.

Pure Gym is a low cost, 24 hour gym with no contract, making it an ideal gym for a lot of people.  One of the most revolutionary things about Pure Gym is that the joining process takes place online. This means that the company website is under even more pressure to look good and also to perform well, making the makeover of the Pure Gym website a big challenge.

PG Homepage

The makeover meant not only changing the look of the website but also adding extra content, all whilst maintaining the back-end functionality that made the website so successful to begin with.

On the homepage, the changes to the site are evident. The most obvious change is the change in the overall colour scheme. This has been changed to meet the companies new branding, using a darker green instead of the lime green more regularly used on the old website. Another change in colour on the new site when compared to the old, is the more predominant use of white. This has helped to space the objects of the site out and give the site a look that is a lot cleaner and brighter.

The new homepage of the site also differs from the old site by containing a scrolling image. The scrolling image is the main focal point of the homepage and is used to convey marketing messages and also to give the user a taste of what Pure Gym’s look like. By scrolling to a new image after a certain interval of time it also helps to make the homepage more dynamic and interesting to the user.

Another new feature of the homepage which has helped to ensure a more dynamic, variable page is the “From the Blog” section. This allows the user to see a snapshot of latest content that has been posted to the Blog, helping to direct them towards the content that is contained there.

Another new addition to the homepage is video content. As shown in the screenshot above, this helps to make the page look brighter and fresher, as well as giving the user a chance to find out information about Pure Gym without having to navigate away from the homepage.

Other changes on the Pure Gym site were improvements to the gym pages. These pages are a big part of the website, as this is where potential members go to read about the gyms and will often be the page they use to access the joining page.

The gym pages have been upgraded to include a number of features to make the choice of joining Pure Gym easier. This includes a selection of high quality images of the inside of the gym, a map showing the location of the gym, a list of the classes that are on that day at the gym and also a link to the social media for that gym so that they can ask questions about the gym and ask current members their opinions.
The gym pages provide an area that can tell the user everything they need to know about the gym including location, equipment and any classes  that are on at the gym. This helps to speed up the user’s decision to join the gym and also saves them time navigating to other pages to find out this information.

There were a number of other pages added to the Pure Gym site in order to make it an easier process for members to find out the information they needed to join. These pages are the equipment page, the class page and the FAQ page. These pages mean that users of the site can find out if Pure Gym meets their needs for classes, equipment etc and often saves them the time of having to search forums, social media or even get in touch with the gym to find out the details.

PG Blog

Another page that was added to the site in order to give members an insight into gym news and updates is the Pure Gym Blog. This allows the sharing of competition winners, equipment focus, Personal Trainer focus and other pieces of information to be shared with the members, helping to drive more traffic to the site.

A feature that has been carried over from the old site is the ability for members to log into a members area. This allows them access to class timetables, gym usage data and other information about their gym. This was also given a face lift to make sure that it is in keeping with the branding on the rest of the site. The facelift however did bring some extra features to the members area.

One of the new features that was added to the members area was a fitness & nutrition section. This was to give the members information about the recommended nutrition and fitness programmes they should follow in order to meet a selection of goals. For example Get Strong, Get Toned, Get Trim and Get Fit are all goals that a member can select and they are then given information that they can use to meet the goals.

In order to maintain the new Pure Gym branding and theme across the internet, the Pure Gym social media also needed to be updated. In order to do this, we changed the Pure Gym profile picture so that it was in-line with the new branding and moved away from the older Facebook format of FBML to use up to date iframes. Iframes allowed us greater flexibility and allowed us the advantage of being able to use CSS instead of the outdated FBML styling. We have used the iframes to allow Pure Gym members and potential members to see what gyms are available to join, what the current competition is and a page encouraging members to join the gym. Pure Gym iFrame

Overall the new Pure Gym website is a major improvement on what was already a very popular successful site. This has been done by combining a new clean looking colour scheme and new features making it easier for the user to find out the information they need to join the gym and then being able to join, all in one place. To have a better look at the Pure Gym site, please look through the selection of images below, or visit the Pure Gym website.

Esprit Logistics are a Northwest company that deal in onsite management for a wide range of companies such as haulage companies, feed, food and ethanol manufacturers. Esprit have built their reputation on quality, reliability and service delivery.
The site colour scheme is based around the company’s logo which is blue and pink. This helps to bring a distinct contrast to the site and makes it look vibrant and interesting.
Every page on the site contains a large image at the top showing Esprit vehicles in action, which brings an interesting element to the site. There is also a variety of smaller pictures on the pages which break the page up, keeping it clean looking and allow the visitors to the website to see the various vehicles that Esprit use and the type of work they take part in.
The Esprit site manages to be colourful and good looking whilst containing all the information the user might need about the site. Esprit Logistics also maintains a professional clean look which is important when dealing in a Business to Business environment.

Gee-Force has had a facelift and is now live and ready to go.

GeeForce

Gee-Force supply hydraulic tools, focusing on hydraulic bolting equipment, to various different sectors. These sectors include oil, energy, gas and wind power, construction and industrial in-plant. The company is based in the North West of the UK but due to the quality of the service clients receive their client base is spread throughout the country.
The new re-design has brought a level of brightness to the site, changing the background colour to grey as opposed to black and using the colour orange for the main navigation bar. The website also contains a slideshow of photos that scrolls through a number of industry related pictures automatically. These changes make a big difference to the overall look of the website making it more colourful and brighter overall. Due to the change in colours from darker to light, the overall look of the site is less cluttered and it appears more spaced out.
As well as aesthetic changes there were a number of major features added to the site to improve the interest of the site for clients. The site has had an ‘industry news’ page put in place allowing the website owner to upload and link to industry news stories that they may find relevant. A Blog has also been implemented allowing the website owner to blog and write about other things that the users of the site may find useful and relevant to them. Not only do these two features help to improve the sites appeal by giving people more reason to visit the site other than to just look at potential products, they also allow the sites owner to display that they are up to date on relevant news and that they are knowledgeable within the industry, helping to build the customers faith in them.

Gee-Force has changed from a dark, cluttered website, to a bright, clean website which has more than just selling of products to offer to customers.

The Judges Said

“For the first time this year, this category combined entries from both classic ecommerce businesses and companies that were using the web or mobile to deliver or significantly enhance their performance: quite a challenge to judge. However, the judges felt that the winner had applied an interesting online commercial model to a traditional offline leisure business and provided excellent evidence of how this had transformed the operation.”

Entrant’s Description

Pure Gym is a new concept in the leisure industry: a 24/7, contract free, no frills gym based in the heart of UK cities: This concept is underpinned by a new online management system. Processes that required human intervention or that hindered clients accessing facilities have been replaced by automated user-friendly procedures. The Pure Gym system is now being rolled out to support 20 more new gyms. The competitive advantage for Pure Gym is tremendous. Rival enterprises have recognised the danger posed by this new system and are now investing heavily in order to compete on price and service.
