WordPress is an open source content management system that specialises in blogs. WordPress allows the easy installation of blogs onto sites that allow users to change the theme and look of the blog easily. WordPress includes a tagging system also that allows blog posts to be easily categorised. WordPress also provides a selection of installable widgets that can be used within the blog to add some variety and interactivity within the blog.

WordPress can bring many benefits to a business, one of these being the SEO benefits. By including key words and writing about the content that is on the site the website can become more visible on a search engine. As with a lot of the social media tools WordPress also allows the business to show a more personal side to their business by allowing them to talk about things that are important to them within the business and industry.

Our tip when using WordPress is to ensure that it matches the rest of the site that you are integrating it to. This will allow seamless transition between the main site and the blog making the user feel the two are related. Also, as with Flickr try to keep the content interesting so the user enjoys reading it and will continue to read your blog.

Pearl Distribution is now live and up and running (riding!)

pearl distribution

Pearl Distribution is a business to business cycling parts distribution company. They strive to only represent and support the highest quality of brands in order to set a new benchmark for the UK.
The site is based mainly around a blog, allowing the client to regularly update their customers about what is going on within the business, but also any news from within the cycling industry. Another large feature of the site is a Flickr feed. This allows all the latest images that the company take to be shared without the need for the user to go to the Flickr site. The Flickr feed also helps to make the site look a little more interesting with the colourful pictures. The overall look of the site is very clean; this is helped by a basic, yet good looking, background. The site is brought to life at the top of each page by a scrolling slideshow, each showing an exciting, high quality image of a bike user.
Overall the Pearl Distribution Site is a simple, good looking and functional site that does exactly what it should with as little fuss as possible.
